General Rules

The school maintains an all-round curriculum which aims at total development of every child. For this reason a set of carefully thought out rules and regulations are listed below and the parent is requested to go through these rules very carefully before admitting his/her ward in the institution.


  • All fees are payable in advance.
  • Boarding, Tuition fee are payable for twelve months in a year.
  • No reduction of fees is made when boys arrive after the opening date of the term if they have been entered on the School book as joining of the first day of the new school year or of a new term.
  • No reduction is made for occasional absence during the year as a result of sickness or any other cause.
  • No fees are refundable except for the Security Deposit when a student leaves or is withdrawn.
  • Fees and extras, if any, should be paid as specified in the bill book.
  • Payment may be made through the School App., Bank Draft and Bankers cheque payable to the Principal, Bishop Westcott Boys School, Namkum.
  • If bills remain unpaid after the due date there will be a late fine imposed per day.
  • One quarter notice must be given in writing prior to withdrawal from the school for Boarders and Day scholars or else one full quarter fees will be charged.
  • Boarders are not allowed to convert to Day scholars during an Academic Session once admitted as a Boarder. However, if for whatever reasons still they want to convert from Boarder to Day scholar, full boarding fees will be charged for the Academic session.
  • No valuable or undesirable things are to be kept by the students within the premises of the school campus, to do so will be considered a serious offence and they will be rusticated.
  • Boys entering or suspected of entering into any school Politics, or who are insubordinate or vindictive, or indulge in damaging the school properties or who in anyway affect the smooth running of the school, the prestige and good name of the school will be reprimanded and strict action will be taken against them.
  • Fees are charged according to the School Prospectus but are subject to change from time to time according to the changing price index.
  • All communications should be addressed to the Principal.
  • The Principal reserves the right to close the admission for any class, whenever he considers that in the betterment of the school.
  • Previous to ICSE / ISC Examination, Pre-Board Examinations will be held in the school. Any student absenting from these examinations or not performing well will be intimidated and the parents of these students will be advised accordingly.
  • All disputes subject to jurisdiction of Ranchi Court and in no other court can entertain a case against Bishop Westcott Boys School. Namkum. Ranchi.
  • Boarders not having a complete set of clothes as per the list below will not be allowed into the dormitories and will be sent home until such time as they return with their complete kit.
  • After the summer vacations, all boarders are to bring a pair of football boots.
  • Any boarder who goes on exeat, leaves or enters the school premises at the end, beginning of a holiday or leaves the school premises for any purpose whatsoever must do so in full school uniform. Parents are requested to see that at the time of joining school specially, their wards are in full school uniform.
  • If any boarder leaves the school campus without a proper exeat he will not be taken back in the hostel and in case of any eventuality, the school will not be held responsible.
  • The transfer certificate is to be given in original at the time of finalising admission wherever applicable.
  • A list of school holidays is published annually. Boarders are not allowed to leave the school except during the holidays, unless it is for urgent reasons stated in writing with full details.
  • No boarder is allowed outside the school compound unescorted.
  • At the end of a term, boarders may leave the school immediately after the end of the final session, but not before. They must leave before the end of the following day.
  • Day pupils should only be absent from school for health reasons. On return they must bring letter from their parents and, if the absence has been for longer than three days a doctor's certificate would be required.
  • At the beginning of a term, boarders should return with clean kit otherwise an additional laundry charge will be made.
  • All property must be clearly marked with the owner's name. The school cannot be responsible for property that is not marked clearly. A charge or Rs 10/- per garment will be made for marking an unmarked garment.
  • The telephone is for office use only. If, necessary, messages will be delivered to pupils but they will not be called to the telephone.
  • At the time of admission a full Medical Report and Health Certificate must be submitted and the event of an unforeseen casualty, the School will not be held responsible.
  • Please use the school diary to communicate with the class teacher and check regularly the diary for Homework, class work and any other information given by the teachers.
  • Please check and sign the weekly test copies and Assessment test copies as and when conducted.
  • Please collect your ward's progress report personally on the specified dates at the PTM.
  • Please ensure that your ward comes to school regularly and is punctual. No absence will be permitted without a leave application frequent. Late corners will not be allowed to attend school.
  • Please make sure that both parents attend the Parent-Teacher meet.
  • We look forward to your co-operation and assistance in the development of the School.
  • Please do not walk into the classrooms and talk to the teachers when the classes are on, all meetings are arranged in the school office only.
  • Please check and sign the weekly test copies and Assessment test copies as and when conducted.
  • Please do not send your ward if they are suffering from any infectious disease.
  • Please do not send money or any valuable articles with the students.
  • Please do not insist to meet your ward when it is not a visiting day.
  • Do not send them with mobile phones to School.
  • Do not allow your wards to come to school on Two-wheelers its for their own safety.
