The Principal

Born in an Anglo Indian family on 22nd October 1966 in Orissa, Joel Edwin did his schooling at Bishop Westcott Boys School, Namkum, Ranchi, as a boarder for 14 years. He did his graduation in Science from the Ranchi University and subsequently his Masters from ICFAI, Hyderabad. After completing his Bachelor of Education, he taught in his alma mater for 18 years since 1989.

In June 2008 he took up the mantle as Headmaster at The Bishop’s School, Pune, and subsequently moved to the post of the Principal in 2017.

In these years of teaching he has mentored children both in and outside the classroom and is always passionate of being in the midst of his students. A visionary with a positive attitude and progressive thinking he is of the firm belief that education reforms are important without compromising on discipline and moral values.

He is a sports enthusiast and has won many Inter-School Championships in various sports. He has played 1st Division Football during his College days and till date does not hesitate to take to the field for a game of football / basketball or table tennis with his present students/colleagues.

He is also fond of trekking and besides the local treks in and around Pune he has successfully trekked to the Everest Base Camp.

An educationist par excellence, he has been conferred with Rashtriya Vidya Gaurav Gold Medal Award – by International Institution of Education and Management; and Best Educationist Award – by International Business School in December 2017.

Presently he serves as the Principal of Bishop Westcott Boys’ School Namkum.

He also serves as a Governing Body Member on two boards.

He also offers his services to the CISCE Council in different capacities as and when required. Presently he is the Regional Co-ordinator of Sports and Games Bihar and Jharkhand region.
